What Cartify collects, and what it doesn't.

Cartify (cartify-2w6q.onrender.com and any associated Android/iOS app) is a free tool for combining recipe ingredients into one grocery list and browsing original recipes. This page explains what information the site collects, how it's used, and what it never does with your data.
Cartify doesn't have user accounts, logins, or profiles. You don't create a username or password, and we don't ask for your name, email, or any personal identifying information to use the site.
When you paste recipe links or ingredients to consolidate, that text is sent to our server to be processed (scraped and/or interpreted by Google's Gemini API) and returned to you as a grocery list. It is not stored after your session ends and is not used for any purpose beyond generating your list.
Your saved shopping list lives entirely in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is never transmitted to or stored on our servers, and we have no way to see, access, or recover it -- clearing your browser data or switching devices means it's gone, since it was never ours to begin with.
When you rate a recipe, we store the rating along with a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your IP address and browser type, combined together. This hash can't be reversed back into your IP address or used to identify you -- its only purpose is to stop the same visitor from voting multiple times on one recipe. We don't store your raw IP address, and this data is never sold or shared with third parties.
Images on recipe pages are hosted by Cloudinary, our image hosting provider. Loading a recipe page may load an image from Cloudinary's servers, which is standard for any image hosted off-site.
Some pages include Amazon Associates affiliate links (e.g. "Kitchen Tools Needed" suggestions). If you click one and make a purchase, Cartify may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Once you leave Cartify and land on Amazon, Amazon's own privacy policy and cookies apply -- we don't control or see anything that happens on their site.
Cartify runs on Render (hosting), Neon (database), Cloudinary (images), and Google's Gemini API (ingredient parsing). Each of these providers processes data only as needed to run the site and has its own privacy policy governing its infrastructure.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Cartify after a change means you accept the updated policy.
